It all begins with an idea.

David M Perkovic is a Toronto-born and based self-taught photographer; who remembers his fascination with photography beginning back in childhood. David recalls countless hours spent poring over the pages of magazines like Time, National Geographic, and Rolling Stone... Drawn to the vivid and inspiring stories and perspectives captured in the many photographs that graced the covers and subsequent pages of these iconic print publications. David recognized early on the power of imagery, and the importance of imagination to evoke emotion, as well as to spark one’s curiosity.

Despite facing various barriers; like shyness, financial constraints, and having grown up in a single-parent immigrant household... David's passion for photography persisted. However, it wasn't until 2018, when he borrowed his sister's camera, that he began to explore photography in earnest. Self-taught and driven by curiosity, David immersed himself in the craft, devouring resources from YouTube tutorials to forums, and seeking guidance from mentors like Bo (“Bo is a real one for dealing with me and teaching me the basics”) whose patient mentorship proved invaluable in David's journey.

David's background in security, coupled with his upbringing in downtown Toronto, instilled in him a keen awareness of his surroundings and a deep appreciation for the raw, unscripted moments of city life. His photographic style reflects this, characterized by a raw authenticity and a commitment to capturing fleeting moments as they unfold.

While David enjoys shooting a variety of subjects, from urban landscapes to portraits, his experiences working with models underscore his commitment to creating a safe and collaborative environment on set. Despite his reserved laid- back personality, David's warmth and passion for his craft quickly shine through, fostering an inclusive atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie.
